Fans react to Ritchie De Laet’s Aston Villa exit

Aston Villa have struggled for consistency at the start of the new Championship campaign and Steve Bruce’s decisions in the transfer market have raised eyebrows.

The Villans have offloaded a total of ten players this term, including a number of defenders, with the latest seeing full-back Ritchie De Laet move to Australian side Melbourne City.

With Villa having a lack of defensive depth, the decision to allow De Laet to leave and the fact he was continuously overlooked by Bruce has attracted plenty of criticism – with many fans taking to social media to have their say after the move was confirmed.

The comments from Villa fans come in response to De Laet’s own post, where he thanked fans for their support and wished the club the best for the season ahead – stating he ‘never really got going’ at Villa Park.
