West Ham United fans hail Rice as he makes reference to Chelsea past

Declan Rice is fast becoming a fan favourite among the West Ham United following for his performances on the pitch this season.

The 19-year-old has started nine Premier League games and has come off the bench in a further 11 for the East London outfit.

The versatile defender, who can play at the back or deep in midfield, enjoyed a positive result on Sunday as the Hammers held Chelsea to a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge.

Cesar Azpilicueta put the Blues ahead in the 36th minute, but in the second half, substitute Javier Hernandez made the difference for West Ham as he found an equaliser inside the final 20 minutes of the contest.

Rice was part of the action until the final whistle, and the game was special for him on a personal level as he was dropped from Chelsea’s academy at the age of 14.

The defender reflected on his past rejection in a tweet after the match, and as expected, plenty of West Ham fans were quick to praise the teenager.
