Southampton fans on Twitter wax lyrical about Jan Bednarek’s second season at the club

Southampton fans on Twitter have been discussing Jan Bednarek after a season which saw the Polish centre-back hold down a spot in the Saints’ starting XI.

This came after Southampton’s official Twitter account posted a video celebrating the 23-year-old’s second campaign on the south coast.

The Poland international joined the club prior to the 2017/2018 term but found first-team opportunities hard to come by, having to wait until April 2018 for his chance to impress.

Even then the centre-half struggled to adapt to the pace of the Premier League but came out the other side of pre-season a totally different player to wow both on the domestic and international stage during the most recent campaign.

One member of the St. Mary’s Stadium faithful compared the maturing defender to one of the greatest of all-time, Italian Paolo Maldini, whilst several likened him to a brick wall and one pointed out how good a signing he’s proved to be for the south coast outfit.
